I know i’ve been blogging a lot about Material Boy and how it ranks in certain search engines, but it really excites me to see the progress of this site.
Material Boy started 12 days ago with small content and not a lot of sense. Material Boy slowly climbed up the Google Search Engine ladder being the 9th, then 6th, then 4th… and now it’s 2nd.
Imagine! Top 2 and I didn’t really exert that much effort! Now my only problem is that Google doesn’t index my posts instantaneously. And that’s my next priority.
Update: I ranked 2nd over 32,900,000 results for “Material Boy”

My Search Engine Optimization method is slowly working. Although my experiment is still under construction, i am seeing progress. A few minutes ago, i typed the word “Material Boy” in Google Search Engine. And to my astonishment, I wasn’t expecting to be in the first page, but there it was… “Material Boy. Insights of a materialistic boy…“.
A little background about this blog of mine. I made an account around 10 days ago. I have lots of other blogs out there, but I realized that i want one also for personal use. So here it is. I uploaded some of the posts i made as test articles that was a little more than 15 days ago. I started blogging. Fixing everything. Making sure that everything was optimized for Search Engines, preferable Google.
As seen in my previous entries, I already felt this high ranking thing a few days back. But it started going down after I made significant changes. Changes which I had to do to make my Material Boy blog user-friendly. I check everyday in Google search if my blog is climbing its way back up, but to my dismay, it wasn’t. I’m not really planning to make Material Boy a public thing. I just want to blog about personal stuff. My blog are, yes, a little more on the marketing side, considering that this was the way i’ve been blogging ever since.
Little did I know that this blogging type of mine will give Material Boy a better rank. I am not getting much traffic though. Who would search for material boy anyway, right? I’m just happy that at least it’s there lurking somewhere on top of every other Material Boys out there.
Being 6th is an accomplishment. It was 9th before, but hey, during that time I wasn’t even blogging about anything. And given that my blog layout isn’t Search Engine Optimized, which takes my blog posts a longer time to be indexed in search engines like Google, Yahoo and MSN, I think being even in a Search Engine is an accomplishment. My other blogs are all optimized giving them better ranks. But this Material Boy blog? Not totally. Maybe it’s the way I write? Who knows? I’m too tired to even think of how Google really works. As for me, Material Boy ranks 6th in Google Search and that’s all there is to it. It made my day.

I recently stumbled into this Adventures of the Coconuter. David, the owner of the blog, blogs about hsi life here in the Philippines. Well… his life isn’t really like ours. He describes himself as a “modern day nomad in third-world Philippines in search of purpose and meaning to life encapsulated in an allegorical coconut called life”. Deep huh? Firstly, Philippines is now a second-world country, i think. If not, let us make ourselves believe that it is. Cause i live in Philippines and i don’t wanna be a third-world native. Hahaha. Going back to David, he writes really well. Better than my shallow writing skills. He writes about his “epic journey” as he wait for the “perfect coconut to fall down from the sky”.
Check out his site. It’ll really make you think about life.
