Pansol - Calamba, Laguna: Not my type of Relaxation

I was blogging about my previous post when my mom went in and asked if I wanted to go to Pansol in Laguna. As usual, I thought about it at first before giving a big fat (but polite) NO.

Pansol offers a lot. Hot springs, Private Resorts, Water Falls, Native dining… It is described as an ideal place for relaxation with family and friends. Here in the Philippines, it is a place where people unwind after a week of stress and hardcore labor. Basically, it’s a place where the old mature people would enjoy.

I am not a fan of nature’s best. I don’t get all excited when I see views.I don’t like swimming around, except for beaches. I don’t like hot springs, since hot water was invented.

So bottomline is, Pansol is NOT really anywhere near my type of relaxation.

Masskara Festival is just around the corner. October 14-21 so mark your calendars. Reserve your tickets now to Bacolod City while it’s still vacation (for students, that is). I found this article by Imogene S. Kana-an, Bacolod City Tourism Officer, from Bacolod Official Website regarding the grand festival:
Masskara FestivalMasskara Festival

What started as “just a new activity” to spice up an otherwisese routine civic-military parade, awarding ceremonies and a literary-musical program for a city charter anniversary, Bacolod City’s MassKara Festival is now 3 years short of its third decade and has already become of the entries of the Philippines to the global tourism community.

The MassKara Festival of Bacolod City has repeatedly represented the country in some major festivals in Asia, notably in the Chinggay Festival in Singapore in 1998, the Lunar Festival of Hong Kong in 2001, in the International Tourism Festival of Shanghai in 2004 and in the Midosuji Festival Parade of Osaka, Japan, emerging as champion in the foreign category and first runner-up in the local category - the first award to be given to a foreign participant in the 10-year history of that Japanese festival.

Among the Philippine festivals, MassKara is one that has also been to almost all major festivals in the Visayas and Luzon. mostly on exhibition performances. During the 23rd Asian Games held in Bacolod City in November 2005, the MassKara dance got the most applause from the athletes, visiting dignitaries and the international press covering the event.

I’d love to go back to Albay, Bicol and see the perfect cone-shaped Mayon Volcano. Last time I went there was… i don’t even remember. Most of my relatives live there considering both my parents are from Bicol. Here’s more information about Mayon Volcano from Wikipedia:

Mayon Volcano - Albay, Bicol, Philippines

Mayon Volcano is an active volcano in the Philippines on the island of Luzon, in the province of Albay in the Bicol Region. Its almost perfectly-shaped cone is considered by some to be the Philippine equivalent of Mount Fuji in Japan. The volcano is situated 15 kilometres northwest of Legazpi City.

Mayon is classified by volcanologists as a stratovolcano (composite volcano). Its symmetric cone was formed through alternate pyroclastic and lava flows. Mayon is the most active volcano in the country, having erupted over 50 times in the past 400 years. It is located between the Eurasian and the Philippine Plate, at a convergent plate boundary: where a continental plate meets an oceanic plate, the lighter continental plate overrides the oceanic plate, forcing it down; magma is formed where the rock melts. Like other volcanoes in the Pacific Ocean, Mayon is a part of the “Pacific Ring of Fire”.

Japan had another earthquake earlier. It’s not fun living along the playgrounds of the volcanic something, no? Japan has this bad weather condition and they always have earthquakes. Still, i wanna go there cause i heard lots of good things about the place. Food, clothes, tourist spots… So here’s the news i got from Inquirer regarding the earthquake:

“TOKYO — A strong 7.4-magnitude quake struck off southern Japan Friday, seismologists said, but there were no immediate reports of major damage nor casualties.

The quake occurred at 11:38 pm (1338 GMT), 340 kilometers (210 miles) south-south-east of Iwo Jima in Japan’s Volcano Islands, at a depth of 261 kilometers, the US Geological Survey said.

Japan experiences about 20 percent of the world’s powerful earthquakes. In July an earthquake measuring 6.8 on the Richter scale shook central Niigata prefecture, killing 11 people.”

See? I told you earthquakes love them! I just hope you wouldn’t be a tourist in Japan when another intensity 10 earthquake occurs. Just like what happened to the tourists in Thailand. *may they rest in peace*

Ok i don’t wanna blog anymore about negative things.

Forbidden City Cafe. Starbucks evicted! Commercialized Imperial Palace. Chinese Culture.

I just read online… there’s a new Cafe in the Forbidden City in China! Say goodbye to Starbucks! Well according to Rui Chenggang, Starbucks didn’t consider the “solemnity of the Forbidden City and (trampled on) Chinese culture.” Imagine, the Forbidden City of Beijing is now commercialized! Starbucks has been there since 2000, as said in the article.

So the main reason why they wanted a new cafe was so that they can provide other product related to Imperial Palace and Chinese Culture.

Well, ok, i find it reasonable. Viva China! Hehehe.

V58 Ortigas Center Pasig City. For drinkers out there.

After my long road trip saga and bar hopping… the final destination (without the negative aura of the title) was V58. It was actually big. It had different areas which i don’t really know what for. I see drinkers everywhere. No cheap-ass people hanging around, only yuppies trying to get a good rest from a long week.

I drank with my friends. The usual Vodka Ice. Sisig rice with egg. It was good until a friend beside me told me that i was eating pure PIG EARS. Then i realized… oh my crap. Anyway i don’t wanna waste the heavenly-yummy-but-bot-so-crunchy-treat (because sisig, for me, is supposed to be crunchy) so i still ate it to the last bit.

I can’t handle beer. Local beer. I don’t know why. I hope i can. I hope one day i’ll learn to drink beer and feel good about doing so. Right now i can’t due to the taste. I just wish i’ll learn how one day. Why? Because i’m cheap, and so is beer. Like 1/5 the price of Vodka.

Warehouse 135, Makati City

I went to Warehouse 135 last night. Location is at 135 Yakal St, Makati City. Well the kind of place is new to me. it was weird how a clubbing experience may pop out of nowhere. It’s like not Philippines i tell you. It’s like i’m in a foreign land where clubs are located anywhere but still manage to get good crowd. I think Philippine’s night life is taking a hike towards a new level. We’re slowly coping, and me likes it. Makati is the new New York. Ok maybe that’s a little not true. Hahaha.

Singapore: Orchard Road. Esplanade. National Stadium. Merlion!

So many things i wanna see in Singapore! I’ve heard lots of good things about the place! I also heard that it’s small and it’s easy to travel around… Maybe if i can save like $1000, i’ll go this vacation… a few months from now, that is.

Things i saw from wiki that got me interested

  1. Merlion Park on Marina Bay (2)
  2. Mount Faber
  3. Tourism Court in Tanglin
  4. FOOD FESTIVAL!
  5. Orchard Road… it looks cute in the pictures!
  6. Mariamman Temple! How eccentric!

Sep 21

Finally. I just wanna be anonymous. Is that a crime? Hahaha. Well who cares about who am I anyway. The important things is i’m able to tell the world what I want.

I crave for material things, but that doesn’t mean that i’m against other beliefs… so don’t go screaming nonsense at me. I also had this blog before about how I love my life.. all I got were hate messages. I must have overdone it with my annoying thoughts. Hahaha.. I’m not blogging for anyone but me, right?

What will I write about?

  1. My every desire
    • Material Things: Laptops. Cars. Houses. Everything! Money!
    • Travel: I wanna get out of this country…! I’ve been to most of the places here in the Philippines but I wanna see the outside world. I wanna see cultures and appreciate them and of course spend spend spend. Asia… Europe… whatever else is out there.. I wanna go go go. Seriously.
    • Goals: I have lots of goals but sometimes i feel that i’m too lazy to even start. I need motivation. MOTIVATION PLEASE!
    • a lot more.. i just can’t think of them right now cause i didn’t have enough sleep last night.

I’ll post another one right after this about how i’m dying to get thinner after gaining 10 pound over the past few months.

Oh.. just some things i wanna make everyone aware of… i’m mature now unlike before. I think that’s good. Awww i’m really getting older. I turned 20 this year… TWENTEEN. hahah. yeah whatever, right? well at least i can pretend that i didn’t have my birthday so i’ll still be 19. I’ll miss my teenage years. Free from stress. The stress is killing me. I need radiant skin that’ll be the envy of the world. But i don’t have that. So i’ll just post about how i’d love to have one. Sounds pathetic. Well it is. And it doesn’t matter.

Hmph!
